The architecture does half the work here. A latticed dome filters daylight into shifting points across the plaza below, and the galleries sit beneath it in a sequence arranged by period instead of by country — so objects made within decades of each other on different continents end up side by side. It is a genuinely different way to walk a collection. Two hours covers the galleries; the terraces are worth another.
